A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, you know I'm always on the hunt for amazing food finds, and this one is a total winner! I was up in Essex Junction visiting my college roommate (it had been WAY too long!), and she suggested we check out the Essex Experience. We were wandering around, soaking in the local vibes, when I spotted Pick Thai Vermont. I'm a sucker for good Thai food, so we knew we had to try it.
And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. This place is legit! It's family-owned and the care they put into their food really shines through. The atmosphere is super cozy and inviting, and the staff is so friendly. I instantly felt right at home.
Flavor Explosion!
Okay, let's get to the good stuff – the food! We decided to share a few dishes so we could sample as much as possible. First up, we had the Pad Thai ($15.95), because you HAVE to try the Pad Thai, right? It was the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, with just the right amount of crushed peanuts. So good!
Next, we dove into the Spicy Eggplant ($15.95). I love a little bit of heat, and this dish delivered! The eggplant was perfectly cooked, and the sauce had a fantastic kick, with just enough sweetness from the pineapple. Plus, the roasted cashew nuts added a nice crunch.
We also tried the Cashew Nut dish with chicken ($13.95). The savory Thai sauce with ginger, scallions, and veggies was amazing. It was a flavorful and satisfying dish.
I was torn between the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Thai Sausage Fried Rice, but my friend insisted we get the Thai Sausage Fried Rice ($15.95). She said it was a local favorite, and I can see why! The sausage was perfectly fried, and the fried rice was packed with flavor.
Another one that caught my eye was the Crab Fried Rice ($18.95) — crab meat in fried rice? Sign me up!
I'm already planning my next visit so I can try the Thai Basil ($15.95) and the Pad See Ew ($15.95). They also have a Broccoli Delight ($15.95) if you are looking for something simple yet satisfying. They also have lots of protein options from Veg/Tofu/Chicken ($13.95) to Duck ($25.95).
More Than Just a Meal
After our amazing lunch, we were brainstorming what to do next. My friend suggested we take a drive out to the Champlain Valley Exposition, especially if there was an event going on. I've heard it's a blast! I think the last time I was at the Champlain Valley Exposition was when I was a kid! Maybe next time.
We had such a fun day exploring the area. It reminded me of a family trip I took years ago when we visited Quechee Gorge Village. It's a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it if you're looking for stunning scenery. Maybe I'll have to tack on a day trip next time I'm in Vermont!
My Verdict
Pick Thai Vermont is a MUST-TRY if you're in the Essex Junction area. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. Seriously, you won't regret it! I'm already dreaming of my next plate of Pad Thai. Go check them out and tell them I sent you!
