A day built around one meal
Okay, Columbus! Let me tell you about my day. I was in town visiting my bestie, Sarah, and we decided to unleash our inner kids at Slick City Action Park. Seriously, bouncing around on those slides is a workout! But all that sliding worked up an appetite, and Sarah suggested we check out a spot called Lindey's in German Village. I'd never heard of it, but she promised it was a Columbus classic. Plus, it was a beautiful day, and the idea of sitting on a patio was too good to resist.
And wow, was she right. Lindey's is like stepping into a time capsule of cool. The tagline "Old-school, special-occasion venue featuring a sophisticated American surf 'n' turf menu & a patio" is spot on. It's got that classic, upscale vibe, but without feeling stuffy. We snagged a table on the patio, which was buzzing with happy people. First things first: hydration! I went for the Pomello Saunder ($12.00) – Watershed vodka, grapefruit juice, gentian root and ginger beer. It was the perfect refreshing pick-me-up after all that jumping. Sarah opted for a classic Mimosa ($11.00), which looked equally delightful.
For starters, we shared the Crispy Calamari & Gulf Shrimp ($20.00). The fried lemon and peppadew peppers added such a unique kick! Then, I decided to go for the Lindey's House Salad ($14.00). The mix of field greens, hearts of palm, grape tomatoes, Point Reyes blue cheese, and champagne vinaigrette was just what I needed – light, flavorful, and not too heavy. Sarah chose the Nut Crusted Chicken ($20.00) salad, which looked amazing and she said it was delicious. I was seriously tempted by the French Onion Soup (bowl $11.00), it looked so rich and comforting.
What makes Lindey's special? It's the combination of that old-school elegance with a menu that's both classic and creative. It’s the kind of place you could go for a special occasion, but also feel comfortable just dropping in for a drink and a bite. Plus, the location is fantastic! It’s easy to imagine taking a leisurely stroll through nearby Goodale Park after your meal, or even heading over to Otherworld for a mind-bending art experience. Seriously, Columbus has it all!
So, if you're ever in Columbus and looking for a place that's both special and satisfying, definitely check out Lindey's. It's the kind of place that makes you feel good, from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. Trust me, your taste buds (and your Instagram feed) will thank you!
