A day built around one meal

Okay, folks, let me tell you about my impromptu adventure to Providence! I was in town visiting my bestie, Sarah, who recently moved and wanted to show me all the local hotspots. After a lovely stroll through Waterplace Park, taking in the sights and sounds of the city, our stomachs started rumbling. We spontaneously decided to check out Waterman Grille, a place I’d heard whispers about and had seen on my follower's recommendations.

Waterman Grille is described as a "special-occasion destination on the Seekonk River offering refined American small plates & mains", and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. This place just oozes sophistication and charm. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, a celebratory dinner, or even just a fancy treat-yourself moment (which is what I was going for!).

Let's Talk Food!

First off, the menu is drool-worthy. I started with the Maine Mussels in a Thai basil green curry with chive oil. The broth was fragrant and flavorful, and the mussels were perfectly cooked. Sarah went for the Roasted Vegetable Caesar with cauliflower, broccoli, pickled red onion, Caesar dressing, and sourdough croutons. I snagged a bite (or two!) and it was SO good and flavorful! For my main course, I couldn't resist the Pork Tenderloin served with turnip gratin, brussel sprouts, crispy leeks, and a charred leek jus. Every element was cooked to perfection, and the flavors melded together beautifully. The prices are what you would expect from an establishment like this, but the quality is definitely worth the price. The Pork Tenderloin was unforgettable, and I am still dreaming about it. Next time, I will definitely try the Shrimp & Grits with Andouille sausage stew, Swiss chard, and cheesy grits or the Bouillabaisse with monkfish, littlenecks, mussels, saffron rouille, fine herbs, and sourdough batard. And of course, no meal is complete without a cocktail! Their drink menu is AMAZING. I went with the 'Some Like It Hot' ($15.00) – ISCO Ostreida vodka, Lillet Blanc, hot pepper juice, and lemon! It was the perfect balance of spicy and refreshing.

More Than Just a Meal

What really sets Waterman Grille apart is the ambiance. The restaurant overlooks the Seekonk River, offering stunning views. It's the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. Plus, it's in such a great location! If you're making a day of it, you could easily spend the morning exploring Roger Williams Park and taking a spin on the vintage Carousel Village before heading to Waterman Grille for a late lunch or dinner.

My Verdict

Waterman Grille is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the beautiful setting to the impeccable service and, of course, the delicious food, it's a place that will leave a lasting impression. If you're looking for a special spot in Providence, I highly recommend checking it out. Trust me, your taste buds (and your Instagram feed) will thank you! Seriously, if you are in the area, make a reservation and enjoy this gem!
