After a morning exploring the Old Mill, I stumbled into The Pantry, a Little Rock gem serving up comforting Czech and German-inspired dishes with a modern twist. The housemade charcuterie alone is worth the trip.

A day built around one meal
I was in Little Rock last weekend, mostly running errands and stretching my legs after a long drive. I'd heard about The Old Mill in North Little Rock and wanted to see it for myself. It’s as charming in person as the photos suggest, and afterwards, I figured I deserved a good lunch. That’s how I ended up at The Pantry.
This 'warm, stylish eatery' lives up to its billing. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel instantly comfortable. The menu is a mix of Czech and German classics alongside some modern American fare, and everything seems to be made in-house. That’s a big plus in my book.
Since it was lunchtime, I decided to start with something shareable. The Pantry Board ($37.50) caught my eye. It's a generous platter of their housemade charcuterie, including smoked turkey, bratwurst, pecan-smoked pork belly, and a variety of pâtés and cheeses. The liver pâté was fantastic, rich and smooth, and the pork belly had just the right amount of smokiness. The pickled vegetables were a welcome counterpoint to the richer meats. If you're feeling less ambitious, they also offer The Petite Cheese Board for $14.95.
For something a little lighter, I also tried the Brussels Sprouts ($9.25) with roasted garlic aioli. They were perfectly crispy and the aioli added a nice depth of flavor. I was tempted by the Veal Meatballs ($13.50) in Calabrian pepper tomato sauce, but decided to save that for another visit.
The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual lunch or a more leisurely dinner. It's the kind of place you could easily spend a few hours, chatting with friends and enjoying the food. The staff were friendly and attentive, and happy to make recommendations.
After lunch, I considered a visit to the Museum of Discovery, which I've heard is great for all ages. Or perhaps a hike at Pinnacle Mountain State Park – I hear the views from the top are stunning. But honestly, I was still full from the charcuterie board. I ended up just strolling around the neighborhood for a bit, enjoying the sunshine.
If you're ever in Little Rock and looking for a place with character and well-executed food, The Pantry is definitely worth a stop. It’s not trying to be trendy or flashy, just genuinely good. I'd recommend grabbing a friend (or two!) and sharing The Pantry Board. You won’t be disappointed.
