A day built around one meal
Okay, Tucson foodies, listen up! I recently took a little weekend road trip to visit my bestie who just moved near La Encantada. Of course, shopping was on the agenda, but more importantly, FOOD was on my mind! After browsing around, I was craving something totally different when I remembered a follower DM'd me raving about a spot called Taqueria 2 Hermanos. Seafood boil in the desert? I had to check it out!
And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This isn't your average taqueria; they've got a whole Louisiana-style seafood boil menu that's absolutely insane. We're talking piles of seafood cooked to perfection and drenched in the most amazing sauces. I was instantly overwhelmed (in the best way possible) by the choices.
Dive In!
First things first, we HAD to try one of their feasts. We decided on the Super Feast ($69.50), which came with a pound of shrimp, two snow crab clusters, corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage. We went with the Cajun sauce and let me tell you, the spice level was ON POINT. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the crab was so juicy and flavorful. I'm already dreaming about that sausage!
Since we were feeling adventurous, we also decided to "Build Your Own Bag!" I couldn't resist ordering a 1/2 lb of crawfish ($13.51) and a 1/2 lb of black mussels ($10.39) to get a little taste of everything. Seriously, the mussels were so tender, and the crawfish had that perfect little kick. They have several sauce options, too, like Garlic butter, Mild, Hot, and Spicy.
Something for Everyone
They have so many combo options if you're feeling overwhelmed. The Shrimp Combo is only $35 and gets you a pound of shrimp with corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage. Or if you're feeling particularly celebratory you can get the Crab Combo ($89.42) with snow crab, corn, potatoes, and sausage. Don't even get me started on the Ultimate Feast ($140.38)! Lobster tails, snow crab, shrimp, crawfish...it's a seafood lover's dream.
Tucson Adventures
The best part is that it's super easy to make a whole day of it! After filling up on seafood, we thought about heading out to Trail Dust Town for a bit of old-west fun, but honestly, we were so full we just wanted to relax. Next time, for sure! Or maybe even a trip out to Old Tucson! So much to do in the area!
My Verdict
Taqueria 2 Hermanos is a must-try if you're in Tucson and craving something unique. It's definitely a little slice of Louisiana right in the desert. Seriously, ditch the typical Mexican food for one night and get your seafood boil on! I know I'll be back (probably sooner rather than later!) for another round. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
