Okay, Middletown, CT, you officially have my heart (and my stomach!). I found the PERFECT spot for a post-labyrinth lunch, and I'm spilling all the soy sauce... I mean, tea.

A day built around one meal
Hey friends! So, you know how I'm always on the hunt for hidden gems? Well, this weekend I took a little road trip up to Middletown, CT. One of my followers told me about it, and I wanted to check it out.
My main mission was to tackle Lara's Labyrinth, which, let me tell you, was WAY more challenging (and fun!) than I expected. After all that mental gymnastics, I was starving! I decided to follow my nose (and Google Maps, obvi) to Sushi Man Japanese Restaurant, and oh. my. goodness. I'm so glad I did.
Sushi Man: More Than Just Rolls
First off, the atmosphere at Sushi Man is super chill and inviting. It's the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring a new town. But let's get to the real reason we're here: the FOOD!
I was seriously craving some Teriyaki, and Sushi Man did NOT disappoint. I was torn between so many options, but I eventually settled on the Any Two Combo Teriyaki ($26.95) so I could try a few different things. I chose the chicken and the Angus steak teriyaki combo which was a delicious choice. The portions were HUGE, and the teriyaki sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. My friend went for the Shrimp Hibachi ($23.95) and was raving about how fresh and flavorful it was. I snuck a bite (don't tell!), and I have to agree – definitely a winner!
And can we talk about the Udon and Soba options? I was seriously tempted by the Nabe Yaki Udon (or Soba) ($15.95) -- the description alone (shrimp tempura, chicken, Kanl, cabbage, egg, broccoll, carrot in soup!) made my mouth water. Next time, for sure!
Middletown Must-Dos
Besides satisfying my sushi cravings, Middletown had a lot to offer! Before lunch, I spent way too long trying to solve the brain-bending puzzles at Puzzle Theory Middletown. It's a great spot to hang out with friends and challenge yourself! And if you're looking for something a bit more active, I also spotted Fun In, which looked like a blast. I didn’t have time to check it out, but it’s on my list for my next visit.
Final Verdict
Sushi Man is a total gem! The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly. It's the perfect spot for a casual lunch, a fun dinner with friends, or even a takeout night. So, if you find yourself in Middletown, CT, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't regret it!
Seriously, I'm already planning my next trip back to Middletown. Maybe I'll even try to escape from Lara's Labyrinth *again* just so I have an excuse to go back to Sushi Man!
