A day built around one meal

Okay, Albuquerque foodies, listen up! I recently took a little weekend road trip to ABQ – I'd heard so many amazing things from you guys, my awesome followers, and needed a change of scenery. My first stop was Sawmill Market, of course, to grab a coffee and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. And because I'm *me*, I immediately started scoping out nearby restaurants. That's when I spotted it: Storming Crab - Albuquerque NM, and I knew I was in for a treat.

Seriously, the name alone is intriguing, right? I popped in ready for some serious seafood action, and I wasn't disappointed. This place is all about the messy, hands-on, bib-wearing kind of fun. No fancy silverware here, just piles of steaming seafood dumped right onto your table. It's a total experience!

First things first, the menu is HUGE. But after debating with myself for a solid five minutes, I decided to go big or go home and ordered one of their combos. I opted for the Snow Crab Legs, 1lb Shrimp (head off), 1/2lb Sausage, 2 Corns, and 2 Potatoes combo. The flavor was incredible! I chose the 'Storming Crab Special' seasoning (they let you customize the spice level!), and it was the perfect blend of savory, spicy, and garlicky. The shrimp was so fresh, and the snow crab legs were perfectly cooked and so easy to crack open. I'm already planning my next visit to try their Happy Family Combo: King Crab Legs, White Clams, Snow Crab Legs, Sausage, Green Mussels, Corn, Lobster Tails, Potatoes, Shrimp, and Broccoli. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

One of the things that sets Storming Crab apart is the sheer customization. You pick your seafood, your sauce, and your spice level. It's like creating your own perfect seafood masterpiece! Plus, the atmosphere is super casual and fun. Everyone's laughing, cracking crab legs, and generally having a blast.

While I was in the area, I was reminded that Albuquerque has so much to offer in the culinary department. I've heard amazing things about Il Localetto Rossi (apparently their pasta is to die for), and a visit to Campo at Los Poblanos is always a good idea for a fancy brunch, but this trip was all about casual, messy seafood, and Storming Crab totally delivered.

And because no meal is complete without dessert, I had to try the Fried Ice Cream ($5.99). It was the perfect sweet and crunchy ending to a totally satisfying meal. They also have Cheesecake for $4.99 and Ice Cream (Green Tea, Vanilla, Mango, Cappuccino, Strawberry) for only $3.99.

Oh, and they have a great selection of beer too. I went with a Sapporo, but they also have classics like PBR and Dos XX. For those who don't like beer, they have soft drinks like Coke for $2.79.

So, if you're ever in Albuquerque and craving some seriously delicious and seriously fun seafood, head straight to Storming Crab. Trust me, you won't regret it! Just be prepared to get messy – it's all part of the experience!
