A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, you know I'm always on the lookout for those hidden gems that combine good food with good vibes. This weekend, I took a little road trip up to Shoreline because a follower told me the Paramount Open Space was a must-see, and WOW were they right! After a couple of hours wandering through those beautiful trails, I was starving. Luckily, I stumbled upon Spiro's Pizza & Pasta, and let me tell you, it was exactly what I needed.
First off, the atmosphere is so chill. It's got that classic, laid-back, family-owned vibe – exactly what you want when you're looking for a casual, comforting meal. The tagline is "Laid-back, family-owned outfit serving familiar Italian dishes including pizza, pasta & sandwiches." And that pretty much sums it up!
What to Order at Spiro's
The menu is packed with all the Italian comfort food you could dream of. Of course, I had to try a pizza, and I was not disappointed. They have a create-your-own option starting at $17, but I was feeling adventurous, so I went for the "Vangellis Special" ($21.50). Hot pepperoni, Canadian-style bacon, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives, green peppers, and onions? Yes, please! My friend went with "The Blake Snell" ($19.25), which includes Canadian-style bacon, pepperoni, and salami. We also split a simple salad with their house-made Italian dressing.
Next time, I'm definitely trying some of their pasta dishes. The Lasagna ($17.50), with its layer of broccoli & ricotta, sounds incredible! And I have to admit, the Spaghetti with Mizithra ($17.50) also caught my eye. My wallet is already crying knowing I have to order everything on the menu.
More Than Just Pizza
What I really loved about Spiro's is that it feels like a true neighborhood spot. It's the kind of place you can imagine families gathering after a little league game or friends catching up after a long week. It just had such a warm and inviting atmosphere.
And if you're making a day of it in Shoreline like I did, definitely check out Richmond Beach Saltwater Park. It's another beautiful spot to explore, whether you're up for a walk along the beach or just want to soak in the views. It's the perfect way to round out a day of pizza and parks!
My Verdict?
If you find yourself in Shoreline, Washington, and are looking for some seriously satisfying Italian food, Spiro's Pizza & Pasta is a must-try. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Trust me, your taste buds (and your stomach) will thank you! I know I'll be back soon!
