A day built around one meal
Okay, y'all, let me tell you about my recent adventure in Atlanta! I decided to take a little weekend road trip after a follower from Georgia recommended I check out the city. Of course, I had to explore all the foodie hotspots, and Ruby Chow's was at the top of my list. Plus, I wanted to squeeze in a visit to the Georgia Aquarium. I have heard so many great things about it! I spent the morning mesmerized by whale sharks and beluga whales, and then I was READY to eat.
Ruby Chow's, described as a "Colorful, buzzy restaurant offering Asian fusion flavors for rice, noodles & steamed buns," definitely lived up to the hype. The place was vibrant and bustling, the perfect atmosphere for a fun lunch. The tagline really does say it all.
First things first, I absolutely HAD to try the steamed buns. I went with the BULGOGI ($8) because, honestly, anything with Korean pear-soy marinade has my name on it. It was tender, flavorful, and the pickled daikon added the perfect crunch. I also grabbed the KATSU ($8) bun. Crispy pork cutlet? Yes, please! The spicy mayo took it to another level. I couldn't stop at just two!
But the steamed bun adventure didn't stop there! I had to get something from the greens menu and the Chengdu Brussels Sprouts ($13) were calling my name. Eggplant and tofu puree with Szechuan pepper? It was an explosion of flavor! I also added the Butternut Squash Soup ($9). So creamy and comforting!
After lunch, I took a detour to the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park, which was incredibly moving and thought-provoking. It's amazing how much history is packed into this area of Atlanta! Before heading over there though, I had the opportunity to grab a snack from Ruby Chow's. The Walnut Shrimp ($15) – spicy mayo, candied walnut, and chive – was such a great choice! A must try.
If you are in the area, especially if you're planning a day at Piedmont Park or any of the other nearby attractions, seriously, make a pit stop at Ruby Chow's. You won't regret it! It's such a unique dining experience, with a diverse menu that blends Asian flavors in the most creative ways. The Pow Pow Shrimp ($15) and the Crispy Rice Salad ($17) are next on my list for my inevitable return trip! Seriously, go get your foodie adventure on.
