A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, let me tell you about my impromptu adventure to Gallatin Gateway! I was actually in the area visiting my bestie Sarah, who just moved into Gallatin Crossing. We were planning a whole spa day in Bozeman, but I wanted to explore the town before heading that way. So, what's a girl to do but seek out some good eats? That's when I stumbled upon Riverhouse BBQ & Events, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer.
"Informal, down-home outlet serving hearty smoked BBQ meats, burgers & sides alongside beers" is the perfect description, and I knew I needed to check it out.
First things first, the atmosphere is totally my jam. It's super casual, the kind of place where you can kick back and relax after a long day of, say, exploring Gallatin County Regional Park (which, by the way, is gorgeous!). I walked right in and the smell of smoked goodness hit me like a ton of bricks. I was STARVING.
Now, let's talk about the food. I decided to go all in (because, why not?) and ordered the brisket sandwich. Oh. My. Goodness. So tender, so smoky, so flavorful. It was seriously the best brisket I've had in ages. I also snagged a side of their coleslaw which was the perfect tangy counterpoint to the rich meat. I paired my food with a local favorite: the Mexi-Tana Mexican Lager from Outlaw Brewing ($6) and Sarah had the Strange Cattle Hazy IPA ($6). I mean, what's BBQ without a good beer, right?
They also have a huge selection of other beers on tap too, including the Pardon the View Lager ($5) and the Cold Smoke Scotch Ale ($6) for the darker beer fans. And wine drinkers won't be disappointed either, with options like the Two Mountain Red Blend - WA ($10/$35) and the Terra Alpina Pinot Gris - ITALY ($12/$40).
Beyond the food and drinks, Riverhouse BBQ & Events just has this amazing vibe. I could easily see myself hanging out there all afternoon, especially after a good soak at Bozeman Hot Springs. It's the kind of place that just feels… good.
One thing that really stood out was the friendly service. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and they clearly take pride in their BBQ. It makes such a difference when you can tell the staff is passionate about what they do!
If you're anywhere near Gallatin Gateway, do yourself a favor and head to Riverhouse BBQ & Events. Seriously. You won't regret it. I'm already planning my next trip back!
