A day built around one meal
I had a reason to be up in Columbus last weekend, running a few errands that stretched into the late afternoon. I'd spent the morning wandering through Goodale Park, enjoying the last gasp of autumn colors, and figured I deserved a treat. I remembered hearing about the RH Rooftop Restaurant at RH Columbus and decided to see if it lived up to the buzz.
Located, as the name suggests, on the roof of the Restoration Hardware store, the restaurant is surprisingly serene. The design is classic and elegant, and it really does feel like an escape from the everyday. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to order a glass of something bubbly – and I happily obliged, opting for a glass of the Fleur de Miraval Sparkling Rose ($39), which was crisp and refreshing.
The menu is concise but covers all the bases. I was immediately drawn to the Lobster Roll, which, at market price, felt like a splurge but was absolutely worth it. Perfectly toasted bread, generous chunks of lobster, and just the right amount of mayo – simple perfection. My friend, who met me after she finished up shopping at Easton Town Center, decided on the Truffle Fries. I snuck a few (okay, more than a few) and can confirm they were decadently delicious.
They have a very robust wine list. If bubbles aren't your thing, they also have a wide selection of whites including the FLOWERS Sonoma Coast, California 2021 ($29 / 116) and the ALLAN SCOTT Marlborough, New Zealand 2023 ($13 / 52).
What Makes It Special?
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is what really sets RH Rooftop apart. It’s a space designed for lingering, for savoring the moment. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall vibe was relaxed and sophisticated. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the space, it was easy to forget that I was just a few blocks away from the city's bustle. It’s definitely more of an experience than just a meal.
Later, after our impromptu rooftop escape, we even considered heading over to Otherworld for a completely different, immersive kind of experience, but ultimately decided to call it a day.
If you’re looking for a place to elevate an ordinary afternoon, or simply want to treat yourself to something special, RH Rooftop Restaurant is worth checking out. It’s become my go-to for a little bit of everyday luxury. I would say it is worth the trip.
