Okay, you guys KNOW I'm always on the hunt for the best local eats. This weekend, I made a little road trip down to Escondido to visit my bestie, and she insisted we hit up this legendary spot called Peterson's Donut Corner. And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!

First off, Peterson's Donut Corner, with its tagline "Open 24 Hours", is exactly what it sounds like: a donut paradise that NEVER sleeps. I mean, how amazing is that?! The Google description calls it a "stalwart, busy dessert shop," and that's spot on. Even at midday, the place was buzzing with people grabbing their sweet fix.

Before our donut adventure, we actually grabbed some lunch and a beer at Side Yard Public House, which I'd heard great things about. Escondido is seriously a foodie goldmine! I also hear that Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Escondido is another must-visit when I have more time. Plus, my friend said The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook has amazing views, so next time I'm planning a whole day of exploring the area.

But back to the donuts! Walking into Peterson's is like stepping into a sugary wonderland. The display case is overflowing with every kind of donut imaginable. It was honestly hard to choose! After much deliberation, here's what I ended up with:

* Old Fashioned: A classic for a reason! These were perfectly cakey and had that perfect slightly-crispy exterior. At just $.85 each, you can't go wrong.

* Apple Fritter: Oh. My. Goodness. This was HUGE and packed with apple goodness. At $1.60, it was worth every single penny.

* Chocolate Bar: I'm a sucker for a good chocolate donut, and this one was perfection. Glazed, chocolatey, and just the right amount of sweet for $1.35.

* Cream Puff: It was a little bit bigger than I expected! The cream was so delicious and decadent and definitely worth the $2.25.

* Vienna Kreme Filled Rounds: At $1.40, this was a delicious treat that filled the sweet craving. The kreme was so fluffy!

They also have a ton of other tempting options, like Cinnamon Rolls ($1.80), those addictive Donut Holes ($1.65 a dozen!), and even fancy-pants Cream Cheese Pockets ($2.25). I was seriously tempted by the Butterlogs ($1.40) too, but I had to draw the line somewhere!

What makes Peterson's Donut Corner so special? It's not just the amazing selection of donuts. It's the old-school vibe, the friendly service, and the fact that you can satisfy your donut cravings at any hour of the day. It's a true Escondido institution!

Honestly, if you're anywhere near Escondido, you HAVE to check out Peterson's Donut Corner. Whether you're a donut fanatic like me or just looking for a sweet treat, you won't be disappointed. Trust me on this one – your taste buds will thank you! I'm already planning my next trip back!
