A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, you know I'm all about uncovering those hidden gems, the places that locals swear by and tourists dream of stumbling upon. This weekend, I finally checked one off my list: Pat's Pizza of Presque Isle! I'd heard whispers, seen drool-worthy pics from my followers, and decided a little road trip was in order. I was in town to visit my friend Sarah, who moved up to Presque Isle last year to be closer to her family. We spent the morning looking at some antiques and other local historical artifacts at Presque Isle Historical Society, which really made me hungry for lunch.
And let me tell you, Pat's Pizza did NOT disappoint. Described as an "upbeat, long-running staple featuring pizza, pasta & sandwiches in casual environs," the place has this classic, comfortable vibe that just screams 'good food is coming.' First things first: pizza. I went for a slice of their Hawaiian pizza, stacked with ham and pineapple, because, let's be honest, I'm a sucker for that sweet and savory combo. At $12.99, it was an absolute steal, and every bite was delicious. Sarah ordered the Cheeseburger pizza ($13.99) which tasted like a freshly grilled burger on a crispy crust, with the mustard, ketchup, onions, hamburg & pickles! We also couldn't resist sharing an order of breadsticks. They were perfectly soft and garlicky — definitely a must-order.
But Pat's is more than just pizza! They've got a full menu of comfort food classics. I was eyeing the Lobster Roll with Fries ($8.95) and the All You Can Eat Spaghetti ($4.25), which they have on Mondays! Next time, I'm totally trying the BIG "A" SPECIAL Pizza, that has Pepperoni, Diced Green Pepper, and Onion ($13.99). Sarah was raving about their "Any Two Dinners with Breadsticks" for only $18.95. They have it every day and all day. What a deal!
What makes Pat's special? It's that feeling of community, of a place that's been serving up deliciousness for years. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was buzzing with happy chatter, and the food was just… good. Simple, honest, and satisfying. They also have some great deals. Their LARGE ONE-ITEM PIZZA is $10.50 on Sundays-Wednesdays, which is incredible.
After our pizza feast, we took a drive out to Aroostook State Park for a hike to walk off some of those breadsticks. The scenery was gorgeous, and it was the perfect way to end a fantastic day in Presque Isle.
If you ever find yourself in northern Maine, you HAVE to make a pit stop at Pat's Pizza of Presque Isle. Seriously, add it to your itinerary! Grab a slice (or two), soak up the atmosphere, and tell them I sent you. You won't regret it. 10/10 would recommend!
