A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, you KNOW I'm always on the hunt for the next great food adventure. This weekend, I decided to take a little road trip after one of my followers told me I HAD to check out Dearborn Heights. I was heading that way to catch some fun at Launch Family Entertainment Dearborn with my friend's kids. So you know I needed a good spot to grab dinner! And boy, did I find one.
Let me introduce you to Oyaki Sushi! This place isn't your run-of-the-mill sushi joint; it's a stylish, contemporary spot that serves up classic Japanese fare with a few Korean twists thrown in for good measure. And seriously, everything I tried was phenomenal.
Sushi Heaven
First off, let's talk about the rolls. Oyaki Sushi has an INSANE selection of special rolls, both cooked and raw. I had to try the Salmon on the Beach Roll ($13.95) – I mean, salmon, avocado, and MORE salmon topped with mayo sauce? Yes, please! It was creamy, fresh, and utterly addictive. My friend went for the Crunchy Roll ($12.95) with shrimp tempura, avocado, and cucumber topped with tempura flakes and eel sauce. It was gone in seconds!
I also had to sample the Mango Salmon Roll ($13.95) – shrimp tempura and avocado topped with mango, jalapeno, and spicy mayo sauce. The sweetness of the mango with the kick of the jalapeno? Genius! We also split the Ford Roll ($13.95). Cooked shrimp, tuna, crab salad, avocado, and asparagus all topped with eel sauce and spicy mayo. It was just incredible!
I was tempted to get the Firecracker Roll ($13.95) with eel, avocado, and cucumber topped with cooked shrimp, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and tobiko, but I was starting to get full!
More Than Just Sushi
What really makes Oyaki Sushi stand out is the variety and the quality. They're not afraid to get creative with their rolls, and they use only the freshest ingredients. The service was also fantastic – super friendly and attentive.
After lunch, we were all ready to burn off some energy, so we decided to visit Dinoland. The kids absolutely loved it! It was the perfect way to end our fun day. Before heading home, we took a quiet stroll through the Dearborn Peace Park West. It was a serene spot to reflect on our day and recharge before the drive back.
Final Thoughts
If you're in the Dearborn Heights area, or even if you're not (it's worth the drive, trust me!), you HAVE to check out Oyaki Sushi. Seriously, my meal was so good it was nearly transcendental. From the creative rolls to the friendly atmosphere, everything about this place is a win. Do yourself a favor and go get your sushi fix! You won't regret it. 10/10 would recommend!
