A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, let me tell you about my amazing day in Napa! I was actually in town visiting my college bestie, Sarah, who just moved there. We decided to explore the Napa River Walkway (such a pretty spot for a morning stroll!) and afterwards, I was craving some seriously good sushi. I'd heard whispers about Morimoto Napa, and let me tell you, the rumors are TRUE.
Morimoto Napa lives up to its tagline: "Inventive, high-end Japanese fare & artful cocktails presented in glamorous yet Zen surroundings." The Google description is spot-on too. This place is all about the details, from the stunning presentation to the impeccable service. It's not just a meal; it's an experience.
First off, the atmosphere is just…chef's kiss. It's modern and sleek, but with a calming, Zen-like vibe. It's the perfect place to unwind and treat yourself. And speaking of treating yourself, let's talk about the food!
I was absolutely drooling over the menu. So many amazing options, but I had to narrow it down. Here's what I tried:
* Surf & Turf Roll ($52): Okay, this is where luxury meets sushi. Shrimp tempura and A5 wagyu…torched! It's an explosion of flavor in every bite. Worth. Every. Penny.
* Spicy Tuna Roll ($16): A classic, but elevated. The tuna was so fresh, and the spicy sauce had the perfect kick.
* Eel Avocado Roll ($17): The barbeque eel was perfectly glazed and the avocado was so creamy. This is a must-order!
* Shrimp Tempura Roll ($16): A solid option. The tempura was perfectly crispy, and asparagus added the perfect crunch.
* California Roll ($16): You can't go wrong with the snow crab, cucumber, and avocado staple! So fresh.
I was also eyeing the Negitoro Maki ($17) and the Soft Shell Crab Roll ($21), maybe next time!
What makes Morimoto Napa so special? It's the combination of the incredible food, the beautiful atmosphere, and the attention to detail. You can tell that they're passionate about what they do, and that passion shines through in every dish. The artful cocktails are a major draw too, I had a refreshing sake-based drink that was the perfect complement to the sushi.
After lunch, Sarah and I decided to check out Infinity Hill. The views were incredible, and it was the perfect way to end our day of exploring. We even swung by The Bennington Napa Valley on the way back, just to window shop and soak in the ambiance. Such a cute area.
If you're looking for a truly special dining experience in Napa, you HAVE to check out Morimoto Napa. It's perfect for a romantic dinner, a special occasion, or just a treat-yourself kind of day. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
