A day built around one meal
Okay, y'all, let me tell you about my recent adventure to Fulton, MD! My bestie, Sarah, just moved out that way and I promised I'd come visit. After a morning checking out the fossil cliffs at Purse State Park (seriously cool, even if I'm no paleontologist!), I was starving. Sarah suggested we hit up Lib's Grill in Maple Lawn, and I'm SO glad she did.
First off, the vibe is totally my style. It's got that contemporary, slightly upscale but still totally relaxed feel. We rolled in around lunchtime and snagged a spot at the bar. I immediately loved the energy of the place. They have a sign that says, "Neighborhood bar & grill offering a changing New American menu & live music in a contemporary space.", which is spot on!
Let's talk food, because OH. MY. GOODNESS. We started with a couple of appetizers because, decisions are hard, right? We got the Asian Fried Brussels Sprouts ($10) – crispy pork, honey, sriracha… need I say more? – and the Goat Cheese Crème Brûlée ($11). I know, goat cheese *crème brûlée* sounds weird, but trust me, it’s a flavor explosion in the best way. Candied walnuts, balsamic, and that perfectly brûléed sugar crust… I'm drooling just thinking about it.
For my main course, I decided on the Fish Tacos ($11). They were perfectly crispy, with a delicious slaw and a spicy aioli that gave them the perfect kick. Sarah opted for the Short Rib Poutine ($10) which looked amazing. She said the braised short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I'm definitely ordering that next time!
What really makes Lib's Grill stand out, besides the incredible food, is that it feels like a real community hub. Everyone seemed to know each other, the bartenders were super friendly, and there was just a really welcoming atmosphere. It would be an awesome place to stop after a family event at nearby Maple Lawn Park or Watkins Regional Park. Picture a day playing in the park and then unwinding with some great food and drinks.
Before heading back to Sarah's, we decided to split the Cheese Board ($17). Red dragon and manchego? Yes, please! The honey and mustard were the perfect sweet and savory addition.
Seriously, if you find yourself anywhere near Fulton, MD, you HAVE to check out Lib's Grill Maple Lawn. Whether you're coming from a hike at Purse State Park, a game at Maple Lawn Park or just passing through, it's the perfect spot to relax, grab a bite, and enjoy some good company. I’m already planning my next visit! Tell them I sent you! (Okay, they won't know who I am, but still, go!).
