A day built around one meal
Okay, you guys KNOW I'm always down for a food adventure! This weekend, I decided to take a little road trip to Green Bay. A follower messaged me raving about Fonferek's Glen and its stunning waterfall, so I packed my bags and hit the road. After hiking around and snapping a million pictures (seriously, it's gorgeous!), I was starving and ready to reward myself.
And that's when I stumbled upon Koi Ramen. Guys, this place is a MUST-TRY if you're ever in the area. It’s such a hidden gem. I walked in and the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water.
First things first, DRINKS! They have such a fun selection. I was torn between the Koi Milk Tea ($6) and the Passion Fruit Green Tea ($6). Ultimately, the Passion Fruit won, and it was SO refreshing – the perfect pick-me-up after all that hiking. They also have Japanese Soda ($3.5) in flavors like melon and strawberry! I might have to try that next time!
For starters, I couldn't resist the Grilled Pork Buns ($10). Two pieces of perfectly seared pork belly, drizzled with their house sauce, nestled in a fluffy bun with cucumber and scallions? Yes, please! They also had a Soft Shell Crab Bun for only $9. But I am a sucker for pork belly.
Of course, the main event is the ramen! While I was waiting, I saw someone order the Chicken Yakitori ($8). Three skewers of perfectly grilled chicken? I will definitely be adding this to my list for the next time! They offer several kinds of dumplings. Pork, Beef, and Veggie for $12 each. But I decided to go with the Soup Dumpling ($9) and it was an absolute burst of flavor. Be careful when you bite into it though, because it is full of soup!
What makes Koi Ramen so special? It's definitely the attention to detail and the fresh ingredients. Everything tasted so vibrant and flavorful, and the broth was rich and comforting. Plus, the staff was super friendly and helpful in making recommendations.
While I was in Green Bay, I also made sure to visit the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Center. It's such a peaceful place to stroll around and see some local wildlife. It reminded me of the peace I felt eating my ramen! If you have more time, the Green Bay Botanical Garden is another beautiful spot to check out. I love being surrounded by nature and Koi Ramen is just a short drive away after taking in the botanical gardens!
Honestly, my trip to Green Bay was so much fun, and Koi Ramen was definitely a highlight. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic ramen experience, you HAVE to check it out. Seriously, treat yourself! You won't regret it.
