A day built around one meal
Okay, you guys know I'm always on the hunt for delicious eats, and this weekend's little road trip to San Diego did NOT disappoint! I was actually down here visiting my bestie who just moved, and we decided to spend Saturday exploring Seaport Village. All that shopping definitely worked up an appetite, so we were on the lookout for somewhere with a chill atmosphere and good food. That’s when we stumbled upon Khan's Cave Grill & Tavern. Seriously, the name alone piqued my interest!
And let me tell you, this place delivers. The vibe is totally airy and relaxed, with a sports-friendly atmosphere (major plus!). But the real star of the show? The patio with those fire pits! We grabbed a spot outside and immediately felt like we were on vacation. According to their tagline and Google description, they are a sports-friendly space and I agree!
Now, let's talk food. Khan's Cave boasts a pretty extensive Pan-Asian menu, and honestly, it was hard to choose. We ended up ordering a bunch of stuff to share (naturally!). I started with the Miso Seaweed Tofu Soup ($6) – light, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. We also shared the Walnut Shrimp ($18), which was crispy, sweet, and oh-so-addictive. For my main course, I went with the Chicken Curry Rice Bowl ($16). The yellow curry was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice, and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. My friend opted for the Katsu Pork over Fried Rice ($17). Honestly, I had major food envy. The pork was perfectly crispy, and the fried rice was flavorful and not greasy at all. Other dishes I'm eyeing for my next visit? The Seared Sesame Ahi Salad ($18) and the Singapore Chow Mei Fun ($18) sound amazing.
What makes Khan's Cave special? It's the combination of delicious food, a relaxed atmosphere, and those fire pits! It's the kind of place you can easily spend hours just hanging out with friends. Plus, its location is fantastic! After lunch, we considered heading over to Balboa Park to check out the museums, but my friend was itching to go to Old Town San Diego State Historic Park to learn about California's history. We ended up going to Old Town and had a great time.
If you're ever in the San Diego area, especially if you're visiting Seaport Village, you HAVE to check out Khan's Cave Grill & Tavern. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. And who knows, maybe I'll see you there – I'm already planning my next visit!
