A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, let me tell you about my impromptu Springfield adventure! I was in town visiting my college buddy, Sarah, who just moved nearby. We decided to check out Fantastic Caverns – seriously, if you haven't been, it's a must-see! Riding through a cave? So cool! Afterward, we were ravenous, and I remembered a follower raving about a taco place just a hop, skip, and a jump away. That's how I ended up at I Love Tacos TAQUERIA, and oh my deliciousness, I'm so glad I did.
This isn't your average taco joint, folks. From the moment I walked in, I could tell it was legit. The aroma alone was intoxicating! The menu is bursting with options, from the familiar to the adventurous. And the prices? Seriously reasonable!
Taco Time!
First up, I had to try the Pastor taco ($3.25). The seasoned pork was perfectly tender with just the right amount of spice. Next, I dove headfirst into the Birria taco ($3.50). If you're a fan of rich, savory flavors, this is your jam. The seasoned beef stew was incredibly flavorful, and the tortilla was perfectly dippable in the consome. Sarah opted for the vegetarian taco ($3.25) and was blown away by how flavorful it was with the onion, cilantro, avocado, rice, and beans. Usually vegetarian options are an afterthought, but not here!
We also split an order of the Suadero tacos ($10.00). That braised beef was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. The grilled onions and cilantro added a perfect fresh counterpoint to the richness of the beef. Next time, I'm determined to try the Alambre Order of 2 Tacos ($10.00). Steak, ham, bacon, cheese, bell pepper, and onion? Yes, please!
More Than Just Tacos
What makes I Love Tacos TAQUERIA special is the authenticity and the quality of the ingredients. You can taste the love and care that goes into each taco. Plus, it's in a great location! After stuffing our faces, we considered a stroll through Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park to walk off some of the tacos, but instead, we decided to head to Dickerson Park Zoo – who can resist seeing some adorable animals after a delicious meal?
My Verdict
If you find yourself in Springfield, whether you're exploring the caves, visiting the zoo, or just passing through, you HAVE to stop by I Love Tacos TAQUERIA. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you. And tell them your friendly neighborhood foodie influencer sent you! You won't regret it!
