A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, let me tell you about my spontaneous trip to Tampa! I was visiting my bestie, Sarah, who just moved downtown, and we were determined to make the most of the weekend. Naturally, that meant exploring. Sarah had raved about the Tampa Riverwalk, and I was excited to finally check it out myself. We spent a lovely afternoon strolling along the waterfront, taking in the sights, and enjoying the sunshine. We even caught some kiddos splashing around at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, which looked like a blast. All that walking definitely worked up an appetite!
That's when I spotted it: Hole In One Donuts. I'd heard whispers on my socials that this unassuming spot was a local gem. And you know me, I can't resist a good donut! So, we popped in, and let me tell you, it was doughnut heaven! This isn't your fancy, over-the-top donut shop, but that's what makes it so charming. It's a classic, no-frills kind of place with prices that will make your wallet sing.
First things first, I had to try the classics. The glazed donut ($0.90) was perfectly sweet and fluffy, and the chocolate donut ($0.90) was rich and satisfying. But the real star of the show, for me, was the jelly-filled donut ($0.95). The jelly was bursting with flavor! And if you are in the mood for breakfast, the Ham & Cheese ($3.85) is where it's at! Sarah went for the Glazed Croissant ($0.95) and was not disappointed. They also have the cutest little donut holes for just $0.75!
What really sets Hole In One apart is the price. Seriously, where else can you get a delicious donut for under a dollar these days? They even have a "Special Dozen" deal for just $9.99 – you get a Cinnamon Roll, Apple Fritter, Eclair, two Jelly donuts, and seven regular donuts! That's an awesome deal if you're feeding a crowd or just really, really love donuts. Plus, it's clearly a local favorite. While we were there, a steady stream of regulars came in for their morning coffee and donut fix.
After our sugar rush, we continued our adventure along the Tampa Riverwalk. It's so easy to spend an entire day exploring this area! Next time, I plan to rent a paddle boat and see the city from a different perspective.
Seriously, if you find yourself exploring the Tampa Riverwalk, do yourself a favor and swing by Hole In One Donuts. It's the perfect way to fuel your adventures and support a local business. I know I'll definitely be back on my next visit to see Sarah!
