A day built around one meal
I had a mission in Reno: replace the blinker fluid (don't ask). While the mechanic worked his magic, I decided to explore. A quick detour to Reno Arch - The Biggest Little City in the World for a photo op, then a browse at the local shops. All that errand-running churned up an appetite, leading me to Crawfish Asian Cuisine.
I'd heard whispers about this place, something about Asian flavors done differently. Nestled in a bustling part of town, the restaurant has a vibrant energy that spills out onto the sidewalk. The interior is modern, with a lively buzz that promised a good meal. After a quick peek at The Discovery museum's website to plan my next visit, I settled in, ready to explore the menu.
First up: appetizers. I couldn't resist the Crab Rangoon ($6.99) – crispy, creamy, and gone in seconds. But the real star was the Hamachi Shot. Served with House Ponzu Truffle Soy and Tobiko, it's a playful, flavorful experience. The presentation alone was worth the price of admission. I also sampled the Sticky Pork Rib, fried and tossed in a House Sweet Soy Glaze Sauce. It was sweet, savory, and just the right amount of sticky-finger fun.
For my main course, I opted for the Lobster Noodle. A generous portion of stir-fried lobster tail with ginger scallion over garlic noodle. It was rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I also snuck a taste of the American Wagyu Ribeye – wok seared with black pepper sauce, red bell pepper, and onion. The beef was tender, perfectly seasoned, and a testament to the kitchen's skill.
Before heading back to the mechanic (and visions of blinker fluid), I had to try something sweet. The Mango Tapioca ($5.99) was the perfect light and refreshing end to a surprisingly decadent meal. I even considered a quick stroll through Valley Wood Park Wildlife Gardens, but my car was ready.
What makes Crawfish Asian Cuisine special? It's the combination of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a clear passion for food. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, to savor every bite. If you find yourself in Reno, looking for a memorable meal that goes beyond the ordinary, Crawfish Asian Cuisine is absolutely worth the trip. It’s a fun place with great energy and tasty food, so it's definitely worth checking out!
