A day built around one meal
Okay, friends, let me tell you about my recent Fayetteville adventure! I was in town visiting my college buddy, Sarah, and we were looking for something fun to do. Sarah suggested we check out NWA Smash Lab, which was a blast (highly recommend if you need to let off some steam!). Afterwards, we were both starving and ready for something a little more upscale than your average burger joint. That's when I remembered hearing about Atlas The Restaurant.
Atlas is located right near the historic Fayetteville square. We walked around for a bit afterward and ended up in Wilson Park, which was so beautiful with all the fall foliage. But first, food!
Oysters, Steak, and Stellar Sips
Atlas is all about "Oysters, steak & other elevated seasonal fare, plus a robust wine list, in sophisticated surrounds," according to their Google description, and boy, do they deliver. The atmosphere is modern and chic, the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal.
We started with drinks because, well, why not? I opted for the "Good Vines Only" ($12), which was a refreshing blend of Wheatley vodka, watermelon juice, and a bunch of other intriguing ingredients. Sarah went with the "Atlanta Private Barrel Old Fashioned" ($15), and declared it one of the best Old Fashioneds she'd ever had.
For appetizers, we split a half-dozen oysters (obviously!), and they were incredibly fresh. Then, for my main course, I couldn't resist the steak. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Sarah went for one of the seasonal specials, and she was raving about it the entire time. I wish I could remember the exact dish.
Looking at the menu, I definitely want to try more of the cocktails. The "Slow Burn" ($12) with mezcal sounds intriguing, and so does the "Fly Like Paper" ($11) with Japanese whiskey. Also, their wine list is extensive. If you're overwhelmed, they offer a selection of wines by the glass. The "G.A. Guilbaud Bordeaux Blanc, France" ($15) sounds like a great choice.
More Than Just a Meal
What I loved about Atlas is that it felt like a *destination*. It's the kind of place you go to celebrate a special occasion, or just to treat yourself to something a little bit fancy. It's also in a prime location; we walked over to Square Gardens to see the shop after we ate.
Final Thoughts
If you're in Fayetteville and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Atlas The Restaurant is an absolute must. From the creative cocktails to the expertly prepared food and the sophisticated ambiance, it's a culinary gem that you won't want to miss. Seriously, make a reservation now. You won't regret it! Tell them I sent you (though they probably won't know who I am, haha!).
