A day built around one meal
Okay, fam, let me tell you about my day in Miami! I hopped in the car for a weekend road trip and, honestly, just needed a change of scenery. I decided to start my day with a bit of shopping and people-watching at Bayside Marketplace, soaking in the sunshine and the vibrant Miami energy.
By lunchtime, my stomach was rumbling, so I started searching for something that would really hit the spot. That's when I stumbled upon Ashoka Indian Restaurant - Miami, a spacious eatery promising traditional Indian fare. The tagline, "Spacious eatery offering traditional meat & vegetarian Indian fare, plus lunch box specials to go," sealed the deal. I was sold!
The first thing that struck me was how inviting the place was. It's definitely bigger than your average hole-in-the-wall, which is great if you're rolling with a group. The menu was extensive, but I was immediately drawn to their Indo-Chinese fusion options. After much deliberation, I went for the Chili Stir Fry with chicken ($18.99). It was the perfect blend of spicy and tangy, exactly what I was craving!
Since I was feeling adventurous, I also ordered the Peshwari Naan ($5.99), stuffed with cheese, nuts, & raisins. Sweet, savory, and utterly delicious! Plus, I couldn't resist trying their Lemon Rice ($9.99) – a zesty and fragrant side that perfectly complemented the Chili Stir Fry. Oh and I grabbed a Butter Naan ($4.50) just to soak up every last bit of flavor from the chili sauce. Trust me, you don't want to waste a single drop!
What I really appreciated about Ashoka was the variety. They have everything from classic biryanis to creative naan options. If you're a rice fanatic, like me, definitely check out their rice section. They have an impressive selection of Basmati Rice ($3.99), Jeera Ghee Rice ($9.99), and even Coconut Rice ($10.99)! Next time, I am definitely trying the Cauliflower Manchurian ($17.99)!
After my amazing meal, I wanted to check out Wynwood Walls. The vibrant street art was amazing! I spent ages just wandering around taking pics. Before heading back home, I decided to catch the sunset at South Pointe Park Pier. The ocean breeze and the stunning views were the perfect way to end my Miami adventure.
Ashoka Indian Restaurant definitely exceeded my expectations. It's more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. So, if you're in Miami and looking for a flavorful escape, skip the usual and head straight to Ashoka. You won't regret it!
